چکیده

Relevance. Inflation inertia refers to the persistence of inflation over time and can be caused by a variety factors, including expectations about future inflation, structure economy, behavior economic agents. Over past two decades, European economy has grappled with range challenges currently seeks mitigate negative impacts global pandemic. Research objective. Persistent lead uncertainty, decreased investment, loss confidence in an economy. Non-eurozone economies also face controlling due such factors as lack monetary integration eurozone, limited access Central Bank's resources, unified currency. Hence, for more effective policy these countries, it is necessary measure understand inertia. This paper offers novel empirical study dynamics seven EU that are not part eurozone. Data methods. To achieve research objective, three non-linear unit root tests employed consider both structural changes regime switching. These allowed inclusion almost all observed series. In addition, involve use dynamic rolling windows sample approach order provide sensitive measurements effect time-varying shocks on Results. According static analysis 200 observations, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic have Sweden, Romania, Hungary, Poland do when switching change considered. However, Croatia show mostly non-stationary sampling. Hungary persistent even though was detected analysis. The fade out Poland, Sweden dynamics. If ignored, misleading results Conclusions. influenced pandemic, or regional conflicts preferences. successful management Romania may serve model other demonstrated ability effectively address posed

Determinants of Inflation in Selected Countries

This paper focuses on developing models to study influential factors on the inflation rate for a panel of available countries in the World Bank data base during 2008-2012‎. ‎For this purpose‎, Random effect log-linear and Ordinal logistic models are used for the analysis of continuous and categorical inflation rate variables‎. ‎As the original inflation rate response to variables shows an appar...

Asymmetric Behavior of Inflation in Iran: New Evidence on Inflation Persistence Using a Smooth Transition Model

T his paper investigates the asymmetric behavior of inflation. We use logistic smooth transition autoregressive (LSTAR) model to characterize the regime-switching behavior of Iran’s monthly inflation during the period May 1990 to December 2013. We find that there is a triple relationship between the inflation level, its fluctuations and persistence. The findings imply that the behavi...

Non-Linear Dynamics of Inflation in High Inflation Economies

Attempts by governments to finance a substantial proportion of expenditure by seigniorage can lead to multiple inflationary equilibria. Theoretical models suggest that, in these circumstances, inflation follows a non-linear process with up to three steady states and that the stability characteristics of these depend on the process by which expectations are formed. In this paper we show that the...
